Die Beiträge rekonstruieren das Sozialverhalten des in Rumänien vor dem Ersten Weltkrieg akkreditierten Diplomatischen Corps. Das Alltagsleben der Diplomaten, die Teilnahme am gesellschaftlichen Leben der Oberschicht, die Kreise, in denen sie verkehrten und die Eindrücke, die sie bei den Angehörigen der rumänischen Oberschicht hinterließen, werden hier beschrieben. Die Autoren beschreiben das Entstehen dieser gesellschaftlichen Repräsentationsformen als wichtigen Impuls für die Verhaltensformen der rumänischen besseren Gesellschaft. Auch werden Fragen der Identitäten, der Rechte und Pflichten, der Freiheiten und der gesellschaftlichen Einschränkungen angesprochen, die das Leben der ausländischen Diplomaten kennzeichnete, welche in einem Grenzgebiet zwischen dem Orient, dem Balkan und Mitteleuropa ihren Dienst ableisteten.
The volume deals with the interface between social and diplomatic history. The articles reconstruct the social behavior of the diplomatic corps accredited in Romania before the First World War. The everyday life of the diplomats, their participation in the social life of the upper class, the circles in which they lived, and the impressions they left with the members of the Romanian upper class are described here. The authors describe the emergence of these forms of social representation as an important impetus for the behavioral forms of the Romanian better society. Questions of identities, rights and duties, freedoms and social restrictions are also addressed. These characterize the lives of foreign diplomats who served in a border area between the Orient, the Balkans and Central Europe.
